Kurdamir – 1 Oil and Gas Discovery

In 2009, WesternZagros’s Kurdamir-1 well drilled through the Oligocene (Tertiary), Eocene (Tertiary) and Shiranish/Kometan (Cretaceous) reservoirs. Reporting 1,900 metres of total hydrocarbon shows in the shallower Oligocene reservoir, the well tested at 27.5 million cubic feet per day of gas and 1,172 barrels per day of 61° API natural gas liquids.  Kurdamir-1 is expected to produce at rates of over 50 million cubic feet per day of gas and 2,240 barrels per day of condensate.

Evidence supports that Kurdamir-1 is part of a giant structure that extends into the neighbouring exploration blocks to the north and north-west.
