Operations

In the fall of 2011, WesternZagros moved from a pure exploration company to an exploration and production company with the commencement of extended well testing at Sarqala-1, which is capable of producing up to 5,000 barrels per day of high quality, light, 40° API oil.

WesternZagros holds two Production Sharing Contracts (“PSCs”) in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, which provides for the exploration and development of crude oil and natural gas. The Kurdamir and Garmian Blocks, combined, form one of the largest exploration areas (2,120 square kilometres/500,000 acres) in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The Garmian contract area (1,780 square kilometres) is operated by WesternZagros, holding a 40% working interest. Gazprom Neft Middle East B.V. also holds a 40% working interest. The Kurdamir contract area (340 square kilometres) is operated by Talisman (Block 44) B.V. WesternZagros also has a 40% working interest. The Kurdistan Regional Government holds a 20% working interest in both PSCs.
