Community Relations
We are committed to retaining our strong social license to work in the areas surrounding our drilling and seismic operations. We believe the best way to achieve this is to integrate our operations with the local communities, where possible, allowing them to receive benefit from our activity in the region. We place a high value on creating jobs for people within these communities.
We give first priority for procurement and employment to the local areas. Overall, we procure a diverse range of goods and services from locally-owned businesses within and immediately adjacent to our operating area. We hire local villagers as rig workers, security staff, and for general maintenance. Local university graduates were also an integral part of our geochemical and geophysical field programs prior to the commencement of our exploration drilling program, and we are fortunate that some have elected to continue their employment with WesternZagros.
